We get asked all the time about the difference between beard balm and beard oil. What are they for? What do they do? What do YOU use? Well, in this post we're going to explore what each is all about and answer the hows and whys.
To be sure, our oil and balm ARE two very different products that serve different purposes. We'll start with the oil. Our beard oil is a blend of four unique liquid oils. For a detailed description of what each of OUR oils brings to the table, check this out . These oils combine to provide intense conditioning for beard hair, and just as importantly, the skin underneath. When you shower, your soap does its job and removes oil and dirt from your skin. If you don't replace your body's natural oils with some new clean stuff, you're leaving your skin out in the open where the elements can do their worst. Beard dandruff is a real thing, and it's not pretty!
Now as for the beard BALM: Our beard balm is wonderfully conditioning as well, but not as intense a treatment as the oil. We combine three simple ingredients (coconut oil, Shea butter, and beeswax) to make a remarkably straightforward product that does its job well. That job is keeping your beard tamed. We're going to let you in on a little secret: If your beard isn't very long, you don't NEED balm. Our oil is fantastic for any length of beard and the skin underneath as we mentioned earlier. But our balm is a hammer, and a longer beard is its nail. The beeswax and Shea butter coat the beard hair and tamp it down, keeping frizz and "beardhead", the result of sleeping on your beard funny, away. Our beard balm is basically a pomade for your beard. If you sport a buzz cut, you wouldn't slather on the L.A. Looks, now would you?
So if you have a short beard or stubble, stick to our beard oil. It's crazy intense conditioning and smells fantastic. If you're anywhere from Papa Hemingway to Gandalf, you'll need both the oil AND balm. (with great beards come great responsibility) In that case, we recommend using the oil at night after a nice shower to let it do its thing overnight. When you wake up, keep things under control and looking proper by combing the heavier balm through your beard.
Now go forth and spread the good news! And remember, a great looking beard speaks louder than words!
